The Cleveland Cavaliers and Orlando Magic meet Monday in NBA action at the Amway Arena.

The Houston Rockets and the Indiana Pacers do battle at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Monday night.

The Houston Rockets started their season with five losses in their first six games but things are looking a little better now as they are aiming for a third straight win after taking down the Bulls in a 96-88 road win on Saturday. James Harden led the team with 25 points and seven assists, Carmelo Anthony provided the spark off the bench with 17 points, James Ennis added 15 points while Clint Capela chipped in with 12 points. As a team, the Rockets shot 42 percent from the field and 13 of 42 from the three-point line but they put together their best defensive game of the season as they held the Bulls to just seven points in the third quarter to set up the win. 


Meanwhile, the Indiana Pacers have been in great form as they’ve won five of their last six games and they will be gunning for a fourth straight win after sneaking past the Celtics in a 102-101 home win on Saturday. Victor Oladipo led the team with 24 points, 12 rebounds and three assists, Tyreke Evans added 17 points off the bench while Bojan Bogdanovic chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Pacers shot just 41 percent from the field and 11 of 32 from the three-point line but they were able to stay composed in a tight contest before Oladipo came up big in the clutch with a three-pointer with just 3.4 seconds left on the clock.

Looking at the betting trends, the Rockets are 0-6 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record, 0-4 ATS in their last five games following a win and 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall. The Pacers are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games, 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against the Western Conference and 12-5 ATS in their last 17 games overall.

Head to head, the under is 5-0 in the last five meetings, the home team is 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings and the Rockets are 3-9 ATS in the last 12 meetings in Indiana.

Things could be turning around for the Rockets who have endured a rough start to the season, but it’s hard to get too excited about wins over the Nets and the Bulls. The Pacers have certainly been the team in better form and they’ll be full of confidence following their thrilling win over the Celtics. The Rockets could certainly pull off the minor upset here, but the Pacers have been on a roll lately and they’ve covered in nine of the last 12 home meetings against the Rockets, so that’s where I’m leaning in this one.

The Detroit Pistons play host to the Miami Heat at Little Caesars Palace on Monday night.

The Miami Heat have won just three of their first eight games of the season and they will be hoping to snap a three-game skid after falling to the Hawks in a 123-118 road loss on Saturday. Josh Richardson led the team with a career-high 32 points, Dwyane Wade added 19 points, Rodney McGruder scored 18 points while Tyler Johnson chipped in with 17 points. As a team, the Heat shot 47 percent from the field and 16 of 40 from the three-point line but they just couldn’t get past the Hawks despite rallying all the way back from a 15-point third quarter deficit. Goran Dragic sat out Saturday’s game with a right foot injury and his status for Monday is uncertain.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons kicked off their season with four straight wins but now they’ll be hoping to snap a four-game losing streak after falling to the 76ers in a 109-99 road loss on Saturday. Blake Griffin led the team with 38 points, 13 rebounds and six assists while Langston Galloway chipped in with 13 points off the bench but no other player finished in double figures. As a team, the Pistons shot just 39 percent from the field and a miserable five of 30 from the three-point line as they failed to make it a contest after falling behind by 69-47 going into halftime.

Looking at the betting trends, the Heat are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games, 2-7 ATS in their last nine against the Eastern Conference and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games overall. The Pistons are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games, 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games against a team with a losing record and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games following a loss.

Head to head, the home team is 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings, the over is 6-2 in the last eight meetings and the Heat are 2-6 ATS in the last eight meetings in Detroit.

The Heat have been struggling lately and they will be kicking themselves after failing to beat the Hawks after rallying back from that 15-point deficit, so they will be eager to stop the skid with a road win here. The Pistons were still competitive in their first three losses, but they looked terrible against the 76ers on Saturday. I’m not ruling out an upset for the Heat even though they could again be without Dragic, but I think the Pistons bounce back at home where they’ve covered in six of the last eight meetings against the Heat.
